Authorisation to work
Bottleneck profession

1) For a first application

  • The application form for an authorisation to work for a foreign worker (employer in Belgium or abroad), completed, signed and dated by the employer or their agent (natural person legally residing in Belgium), or generated by the electronic platform
  • A photocopy of every page of the worker's current passport
  • A photocopy of the identity card of the employer or their agent
  • A photocopy of the document covering the worker's stay, if they are living in Belgium
  • A photocopy of the employment contract in accordance with the law of 3/7/1978, duly completed, dated and signed by both parties OR
    In the case of civil servants: the designation or appointment act.
  • The characteristics of the vacant position: 
    - a description of the employer’s activities or, if there are several activities, of the branch of activity in which the employee will work;
    - an organisation chart of the company showing the position the employee will fill and the chain of command to which the employee will report;
    - a description of the objectives and responsibilities assigned to the worker.
  • Proof that the job concerns a bottleneck profession [LINK]

2) For a renewal

  • The application form for an authorisation to work for a foreign worker (employer in Belgium or abroad), completed, signed and dated by the employer or their agent (natural person legally residing in Belgium), or generated by the electronic platform 
  • A photocopy of the identity card of the employer or their agent
  • A photocopy of the document covering the worker's stay in Belgium
  • A photocopy of all the pay slips for the entire period of the authorisation to work that is expiring
  • A photocopy of the individual account after one full calendar year of work by the worker
  • If granted by another region: a photocopy of the worker’s previous authorisation to work
  • If the authorisation to work concerns a cross-border worker: the relevant residence document issued by the municipality where the worker is employed.
  • A photocopy of the employment contract in accordance with the law of 3/7/1978, duly completed, dated and signed by both parties OR
    In the case of civil servants: the designation or appointment act.
