Application for an authorisation to work of unlimited duration
Long-term resident after twelve months of effective and uninterrupted employment.
(Art. 18, §2, 6° DGBCR, 16 May 2024)
If you are a long-term resident of another member state and have been working in Belgium for 12 months (effective and uninterrupted employment), apply for an authorisation to work of unlimited duration:
- Prepare the necessary annexes.
- Fill in an application for an unlimited authorisation to work via the one-stop shop “Working in Belgium”.
It is the non-European worker, as a “citizen”, who applies for the authorisation in this case.

What is the procedure?
The procedure takes 120 days at most from the moment Brussels Economy and Employment has the complete file until the single permit is delivered / the rejection is notified.
