Minimum remuneration
To obtain an authorisation to work or a single permit and to be able to recruit the non-European worker, the remuneration must reach at least a certain amount.
For all workers
As a reminder, the remuneration of all workers:
- must comply with Belgian regulations (for example, the relevant joint committee) and
- may not be less than the guaranteed average minimum monthly income (GAMMI), except for au pairs, trainees and volunteers. The guaranteed average minimum monthly income currently stands at an amount, before tax, of 2,070.48 euros per month (collective labour agreement no. 43 of the National Labour Council).
For certain functions
For certain functions, the remuneration must reach at least a specific amount.
General case
Only the basic monthly remuneration (corresponding to code 1 of the multifunctional declaration) is taken into account.
The minimum remuneration is calculated based on a percentage of the average gross monthly salary in the Brussels Capital Region, which is 4,748 euros until 31/12/2024 and 4,604 euros as from 01/01/2025. The minimum remuneration must reach the following amounts:

Exception: athletes
For athletes, the monthly remuneration and certain benefits are taken into account.
The annual remuneration must amount to 88,320 euros (= 6,873.15 euros x 12.85).
