Specialised technician

If the non-European worker is a specialised technician, the necessity to obtain an authorisation and the type of authorisation that needs to be requested depends on the context and on the duration of the stay in Belgium.

The specialised technician works for a company established abroad. They are coming to Brussels maximum 5 days per month to carry out maintenance or urgent repair works on a machine or device delivered in Belgium.

You do not need to ask Brussels Economy and Employment for employment authorisation in order to work in Belgium. (automatic exemption by virtue of article 2,32 of the royal decree dated 9 June 1999)

The specialised technician works for a company established abroad. They are coming to Brussels for 90 days to six months, in order to set up, start up or repair an installation produced or delivered by their employer.

Apply for a single permit

The specialised technician works for a company established abroad. They are coming to Brussels for maximum 90 days, in order to set up, start up or repair an installation produced or delivered by their employer.

Apply for a work permit

(In case of successive jobs without any interruption, the previous periods are taken into account to calculate the 90 days. If the 90 days are exceeded, see procedure single permit.)
