Non-European trainees and volunteers: changes to the regulation.

As of 1 January 2023, the regulation with regard to work permits will change for non-European trainees and volunteers.
Under certain conditions, a non-European trainee can begin an internship in Brussels after having found an internship setting and having obtained a work permit.
If it is an internship at a private company, as of 1 January 2023, the trainee has to be a student or recently graduated, less than two years ago (regardless of their age).
From now on, a non-European citizen can obtain a work permit or a single permit to come work in Brussels as a volunteer in the frame of the “European Voluntary Service”. The association for which they will work will have to contact Brussels Economy and Employment to request a work permit.
